Community Service

Our church has many volunteer opportunities both within the congregation and out in the local community.  In October, we had our first Faith in Action day, when we cancelled our regular worship services and spent the day in service projects, worshipping God by serving the community.

Every year we hold two rummage sales.  Profits from those sales go exclusively to mission :  One half goes to FCS and the rest to missions chosen by the Women of Knox.

Many local opportunities are available through FCS.   Knox Church is a member of Falls Church Community Service Council (www.fcswecare.org).  FCS is a group of local churches which supports an emergency food pantry, Meals on Wheels, a furniture donation program, and a financial help program.  FCS has an office in the Knox building and our pastor, Bill Hale, is executive director of FCS.  Volunteers are needed to for furniture delivery and food delivery.  Once a year, at Thanksgiving, a large one-day delivery effort is made to take Thanksgiving food to over 120 needy families in Falls Church.
