The Knox Tone Chimes
Begun in the early 1990s as a youth musical activity, the Knox Tone Chimes Choir has evolved into a more adult membership (although its conduct at practices sometimes makes its director wonder) which periodically plays introits at Sunday morning services and occasionally accompanies the vocal choir’s anthems.
Nick Snow is in his third year as director, building on the foundations laid by his predecessors, Neal Ostlund and Roger Jones. Musical substitutes are sometimes called “ringers,” but in this case, it’s literally true since former members sometimes step in for practices or performances. Performance highlights have included the chimes’ performing their version of “Hail to the Redskins” at the 2008 fall stewardship talent show, shepherded and arranged by deputy director Russell Whitmoyer, a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan.
This bunch contains some true movers and shakers. If you’d like to join them, contact Nick or Russell next Sunday morning at Knox.
